Fan Interrupts Women’s Basketball Game at Paris Olympics

During the women’s basketball quarterfinal between France and Germany at the 2024 Paris Olympics, a fan interrupted the game with just 6.9 seconds left on the clock. The fan ran onto the court and began gesturing wildly before being escorted off by security.

The incident occurred as France was securing their 84-71 victory over Germany at the Bercy Arena in Paris. With the game winding down and France celebrating in front of the home crowd, the fan’s actions briefly halted play. The referees stopped the game, and the fan was quickly removed by on-site security.

This was the first fan intrusion in Olympic basketball during the Paris Games, affecting both men’s and women’s tournaments.

Marine Johannes led France with 24 points, while Gabby Williams contributed 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. France is set to face Belgium in the semifinal after Belgium’s win over Spain earlier in the day.
