Bogdan Bogdanovic reflected on his intense encounter with LeBron James during the Olympic semifinal, acknowledging that while they exchanged heated words, it was all left on the court. Serbia, which won the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, had a standout moment in their campaign with a near-upset against Team USA in the semifinals.
Serbia led by as many as 17 points, creating a tense game where LeBron James made a “too small” gesture toward Bogdanovic. This led to a heated exchange, with Bogdanovic visibly upset and using strong language in response. Despite the intensity of the moment, Bogdanovic later admitted that he couldn’t even recall what initially triggered the argument.
“In the heat of the moment, things got intense, and there were some swear words exchanged. But once the game was over, it was left behind on the court,” Bogdanovic said in an interview with RTS. The Serbian national team was welcomed home by around 40,000 fans in front of the Old Palace (Stari Dvor) in Belgrade.
“We’ve all been pleasantly surprised by the support we’ve received. As Novak Djokovic mentioned, we’ve felt similar support before, but being part of an Olympic team is a unique experience. It’s truly amazing, and we’re overwhelmed with gratitude,” he added.
