For the 2024 Paris Olympics men’s basketball tournament, the No. 1 seed Team USA will face Brazil in the quarterfinals.

USA Basketball is on track for its fifth consecutive gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, having won all three of its group stage games, including a decisive 104-83 victory over Puerto Rico on Saturday. With a perfect 3-0 record and a point differential of +64, Team USA secured the No. 1 seed for the knockout stage.

In the quarterfinals, Team USA will face Brazil, while the other matchups are Germany vs. Greece, Serbia vs. Australia, and Canada vs. France. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6, with the semifinals set for Thursday, Aug. 8.

The final bracket positioning was confirmed after the last group play game, Serbia vs. South Sudan, on Saturday. Despite Greece’s lower point differential, Brazil is the No. 7 seed due to the seeding rules preventing teams from the same group from facing each other in the quarterfinals.

The semifinals will see Team USA on a separate side of the bracket from Germany, France, and Canada, meaning any potential matches against these teams would occur only in the gold medal game on Aug. 10.

Serbia, led by Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nikola Jokic, has progressed after a loss to Team USA in their opening game. France, the host nation and silver medalists in the past two Olympics, is spearheaded by Rudy Gobert and the promising Victor Wembanyama. Canada features standout guards Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray, while Germany, led by Dennis Schroder, is the reigning World Cup champion.

With three games completed and three remaining, Team USA remains the favorite for gold but will face increasingly challenging opponents as the tournament progresses.
