Kevin Durant’s participation in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics remains uncertain, but Team USA has expressed interest in potentially having him return. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, while Durant’s involvement is not confirmed, Team USA officials have indicated they would give him a provisional yes if he decides to participate.
Durant recently earned his fourth Olympic gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, surpassing Carmelo Anthony to become the most decorated male basketball player in Olympic history. Despite this achievement, Durant has left the possibility of joining the national team for 2028 open, stating, “As for LA, who knows? We’ll see.”
By the time of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, Durant will be 39 years old. During the Paris Olympics, he averaged 13.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, with shooting percentages of 54.0% from the field and 51.9% from three-point range.
In addition to his Olympic success, Durant is a FIBA World Champion (2010), a two-time NBA champion (2017, 2018), an NBA MVP (2014), and a 14-time NBA All-Star (2010–2019, 2021–2024).
